Honoring a Basketball Legend

The Legends of Basketball NY Chapter was proud to celebrate the official dedication of the Hubert "Hugh" Evans Gymnasium at the Mitchel Houses. Renamed in honor of the gym's first director and Hall of Fame NBA referee, Hugh Evans, the ceremony recognized his lifelong contributions to basketball and the community. The celebration featured heartfelt tributes, a proclamation from Mayor Eric Adams, and the unveiling of commemorative plaques and a banner, ensuring that Coach Evans' remarkable legacy will continue to inspire generations of young athletes.
